Father's Day Weekend and Our Big Scare!

Father's day weekend was such a blast. We went down to Richfield to spend Father's Day with Jed's family. It is always so much fun to go to Richfield and get away from our regular routine. Gordon and Jackie (Jed's mom and dad) are such great cooks. They both love to cook and plan meals that whenever we go to their home we are well fed and the food is always fabulous.
Father's Day is really special to me because I have the world's greatest dad. My dad has always been there for me whenever I need him. He is such a great role model as well. My dad has taught me so many valuble lessons in my life that have helped me. I love you dad!!!
I have been so blessed to have Jed as the Father to my children. He is so loving and caring. Halie and Gavin love it when daddy comes home. They love to stand around the corner in the kitchen and wait for him to come through the door so that they can scare him. Jed had a "dad moment" the day before Father's Day. This moment is not one that you want to have though. The Saturday before we went out to Yuba lake with Jed's older brother Dustin and his family, Jed's mom and dad, and his younger brother Ryan. We were out on the lake all day long. We all had such a great time. We set up camp on the side of the lake and took turns on the boat. At the end of the day we were all loaded up and ready to head to the dock. We decided to let the little boys have one more ride on the tube. Ryan wanted to ride with the three little boys. We started going and we were going a little too slow because the front of the tube caught the water and tipped the tube straight up. Everyone started to slide off of the tube. Gavin was in the middle so as he slid down the tube his leg got caught in the strap on the front of the tube. At first Gavin hit the water and just floated, and then all of a sudden he went under the water and was not coming up. I have never been so scared in my life. My little boy was caught under the water and could not get up. Well just as I was about to jump out of the boat Jed jumped over me and into the water. Jed's adrenaline kicked in pretty quick. Jed was to the tube in a matter of seconds although it felt like minutes to me. Jed had to pull Gavin out of the strap and then up out of the water. Gavin was pale and all that he would say was, " I falled in the water and swallowed lots of water mom." So as I held him the rest of the way back to the dock I was just waiting for him to throw up all of the water that he had swallowed, but he never did. He fell asleep instead. When we got to the car I woke him and he wanted some Cheetos and started throwing rocks again and everything was fine. We were so blessed that day. Our prayers were answered, that morning we prayed for safety and that is what we were so blessed to have. It all happened so fast that it is amazing to me how fast something tragic can happen. Jed was so grateful that day to be a dad and that his children were safe.
