Last week we took a trip with my family and some friends that I grew up with to Flaming Gorge. It was such a good time and great to get away for a few days. Although it was a long trip in getting there. It is about a four to five hour drive and lets just say it took us around nine and then when we arrived they had given up our campsite to someone else. Wow, don't mess with us after we had been in the car all day and we are tired and now we have to set up camp in the dark. We had to go to another campsite for the first night and then we moved back to the original site for the remaining four nights. On the way we stopped in Vernal and went to the dinosaur museum. The kids needed to get out of the car and we had some time to waist while my dad fixed the broken boat trailer wheel. Once we got there and settled the fun began. We are lucky enough to have a boat that my dad has had since he was a teenager. This boat is now thirty years old, but hey it works great and it can pull around a skier or two! It was a blast! My kids have not been out on the boat much and so Halie (of course) was very scared and nervous that we would tip over whenever we stopped and the boat would rock back and forth. Gavin took a little bit of convincing that it was going to be okay after his experience at Yuba Lake, but after a little bit he was loving watching all of the boys get out there and ski, wake board, and tube. Jed had a good time as well. His goal was to learn how to slalom. This is where you start out on two skies and once you get comfortable you kick off one of the skies and put both feet into one ski. After many crashes and swallowing a bucket or two of water he did it! He was so excited and his victory picture is in the collage above. We were there on a Sunday and so after church we went to the Flaming Gorge Dam and took the tour. It was very interesting and very pretty up there. My dad bought his grand kids some fish food, because at one point in the tour you can feed the fish that are in the Green River. The kids really enjoyed that. I realized on this trip just how much you do for your kids entertainment and enjoyment! Sleeping in the car and then a tent for five nights with my four month old that doesn't stop moving in the night is not my idea of a great time. My parents friends that went have kids too but they are all older. Although Halie and Gavin loved thinking that they were as old as the other kids are. They had fun at night playing hide and seek and sitting by the campfire. Camping is a lot of work but a lot of fun. I love my family and was grateful for the fun time that we had making some memories that hopefully they will remember.

How fun! I know what you mean about all that work! Last year we decided that we will no longer camp in tents... so on our annual trips, we rent a trailor! (my kind of camping). By the way, I LOVE Halie's headbands! Do you make 'em?
